It is written in many self-help books and spoken as a mantra in many weepy rom-com movies that, "you cannot truly love someone else, unless you learn to love yourself". But what does this look like? How long would you last in a relationship with yourself?
Recently I was fortunate to attend a retreat in Bulgaria. Tucked away in the picturesque mountains, it was the perfect setting to take stock of the past few months. With limited internet connection at the retreat, it became difficult to catch up with work emails and tasks and I felt myself getting twitchy.
Like many millions of women in the UK, I have experienced menstrual cramps at work. Struggling to stand up, to talk to people, to not burst into fits of tears. However, hearing about the possible workplace reforms for period leave, did not make me feel as happy as the women in the sanitary towel adverts.
